Case Studies - Stanhope Meadows, Cawthorne
Developer: Domicile
Development: Stanhope Meadows, Cawthorne, near Barnsley
GDV: £3.5 million
Scheme: 11 detached houses
Locally based architect Chris Carr has designed and developed a £3.5 million scheme of an exclusive residential property development in Cawthorne Village, near Barnsley, with the help of CALA Finance.
The properties within Stanhope Meadows at Cawthorne have been individually designed by Chris Carr, consist of 11 large, cottages and family homes, surrounding a central courtyard.
Built in natural stone, the development has been designed in keeping with the traditional style of the buildings within the historic Cawthorne Village, which is within walking distance of the development.
Situated in a pretty valley, surrounded by leafy woodlands and farmland, the site is just 4 miles from Barnsley, and 3 miles from the M1 making it ideal for commuters travelling to the nearby cities of Sheffield and Leeds.
Inside, each of the properties feature a high level of specification with individually-designed kitchens, bathrooms and finishes, and have been carefully designed to maximise flexibility and spaciousness of the living space.
Architect Chris Carr commented, "Stanhope Meadows is a personal and special project for me, as I wanted to create a really high quality development, and am both designing and developing the site myself.
"CALA Finance's 100% funding is allowing me to undertake an ambitious project, bring it to the market quickly, and has allowed us to concentrate our efforts on designing some of the most impressive new build residential properties in South Yorkshire."
David Whittaker MD of CALA Finance commented "We are delighted that have had the opportunity we to fund Chris Carr on this scheme. The design and quality of finish has been second to none. This has been testified by the fact that 7 of the houses were reserved from plan. Unlike the apartment market it is unusual to sell so many houses from plan."
