It has come to light that there is an industry wide concern about the
way in which Extended Gas Flues have been fitted in new homes and the
potential risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The safety of our customers and the safety requirements of our homes
are of the highest importance to CALA.
We are continuing to work closely with the Home Builders Federation
(and Homes for Scotland in Scotland) to ensure that their cross-
industry recommendations are immediately implemented at those CALA
homes across the UK which may be
affected by the HSE's safety alert.
We also place a high priority on servicing the needs of our
customers - both past and present. To this end, we have set up a
customer helpline, serviced by a dedicated and informed CALA team for
any customer who is concerned about the safety of their home following
the HSE alert.
Any customer who has purchased a CALA home since 2000 can call this
number to find out if their home is affected. If this is the case,
our information team will be able to advise on the best course of
action to take.
The CALA Customer helpline is:
0800 612 7984
Alternatively, you can email us at safetyhelpline@cala.co.uk
If you would like more information about this please click here for the HSE web site.
Please note that the CALA customer helpline is for enquiries only and
should not be used for any emergency calls.
If you have any concerns regarding your gas installation that constitutes
an emergency you should contact your gas suppliers emergency number.
