Millers Quay is a housing and apartment scheme built on the banks
of the River Trent in the historic village of Alrewas.
The development comprises seven one and two
bedroom apartments, along with 25 three, four and
five bedroom homes.
The site being situated on the banks of the River Trent,
posed environmental concerns to the Environment
Agency in terms of flood risks.
The site contained a listed building and was situated in a
conservation area.
This Case Study illustrates:
- CALA's ability to deal sensitively with design and form
of a development in a Conservation Area and to deal
with flood risk issues.
- Working closely with the Local Parish Council gains
more favourable results quickly, especially so in sensitive
locations.
- The right level of local involvement can be an assisting
factor to gaining planning permission.
