Local family find their forever home at Ringmer development
When Laura and Dan Burgan began looking for a larger home to accommodate their growing family, they had one key requirement in mind – to stay in the village they had known, loved and lived in all their lives.

Both Laura and Dan had grown up in Ringmer, and with three children now in tow were keen up upsize from their existing home. The couple began their search for a larger property to turn into a family home and discovered CALA’s Farriers Rise development - and with it found exactly what they’d been searching for.
Laura said: “With three young children, we needed more space to accommodate our growing family and were keen to make the move into a larger family home. Dan and I have always lived in Ringmer and the village has a great sense of community. We were keen to stay close to our friends and family and knew that Ringmer was the location we wanted to raise our children, so we set about search looking for our perfect family home in the local area. That’s when we first heard about Farriers Rise and couldn’t wait to visit and to see for ourselves all that the development had to offer.”
Once Laura and Dan had visited Farriers Rise and viewed the showhomes, they knew that this development was perfect for their move. Laura said: “We had a great first impression of the showhomes and we were particularly interested in one of the four bedroom detached houses. Each of the homes have been well-designed and encapsulate the local character perfectly with their flint fronts. We already adore Ringmer but very quickly fell in love with Farriers Rise and the lifestyle it provides, and knew that we’d found the ideal location for our forever family home.”
Laura continues: “Our new property perfectly meets the demands for our family. The ground floor has plenty of room for relaxing and socialising, with a separate living room and amazing spacious kitchen/dining room, with plenty of valuable extra space to accommodate our family’s needs. We are equally as impressed with the first floor, with all four bedrooms of a really good size and two with en-suites and fitted wardrobes. Our house is also well-positioned, meaning that we get to enjoy plenty of sunshine in the afternoons and our children can enjoy spending time in the garden. Some of our closest friends have also moved to Farriers Rise, so it’s lovely to be able to have them nearby.”
As an active family, Laura, Dan and their children are already making the most of the range of amenities nearby. Laura comments: “While the children are still young, we enjoy taking advantage of family outings and love how Ringmer offers plenty for us to enjoy. Dan and I often take the children to go and watch the cricket at Ringmer Cricket Club, which is just around the corner and love taking advantage of South Downs National Park - which is only a short journey away - to explore the beautiful landscapes and go on family adventures on weekends. When escaping family life every now and again, we also enjoy socialising with friends and there is plenty of choice for local pubs and restaurants nearby. Even the little things such as the new pedestrian crossing which CALA recently installed at the local primary school means that we can enjoy walking to and from with our children safely on sunny mornings.”
Laura and Dan are not only delighted with their new home, but also the high level of customer service they have experienced from the CALA sales team. Laura comments: “We have been really happy with the service provided by CALA, along with the high quality finish of our home. The site manager and sales team have been really friendly and approachable from day one and have been on-hand at every milestone to make the whole process so much easier. This definitely helped to alleviate a lot of the stress that comes with a big move and we’d definitely recommend CALA to our friends and family.”
Farriers Rise is a small, select development surrounded by open countryside on the northern fringes of the village of Ringmer. The development offers a range on nearby traditional shops including a family butchers, bakery, local pubs, cafes, post office and convenience store. For those who want to venture outside of the village every so often, the market town of Lewes is less than four miles away. There are several nearby schools including Ringmer Primary & Nursery school and Ringmer Community College.
Farriers Rise has nearby access to the A22, A26 and A27 and train services from nearby Lewes station provide direct routes to London Victoria in just over 1 hour, and to Brighton in approximately 16 minutes.
The development has proven popular as there are now just four homes remaining priced from £675,000, and are ready to move into with flooring throughout. To help make moving easier, CALA is currently offering a range of schemes including its free up to 100% Part Exchange service, and the Government backed Help to Buy initiative.
