CALA Homes has donated two gardening kits to WestbourneHouse School, one to the pre-prep years and one to the prep years.Pre Pre Children with Katrina JarvisThe homebuilder has provided green-fingered pupils with a donation of two gardening kits, one for the children in the Pre-Prep, and one for the children in the Prep School. The kits included spades, trowels, forks, leaf and soil rakes, watering cans and gloves to help budding young gardeners blossom.

CALA Homes previously invited pupils from Westbourne House School to attend its Shopwyke Lakes development on Shopwhyke Road, to bury a time capsule at the site. The children, aged 4 to 7 years old, were joined by their head teacher and members of the CALA Homes sales team to enclose items in the time capsule, designed to give future generations of Chichester a glimpse into life in the city in 2019.

Caroline Oglethorpe, Westbourne House’s Head of Pre-Prep and Nursery, said: “We are always keen to get the pupils outside and learning about how they can play their part in protecting and nurturing the environment. Our school is involved in a European pollination project and the children are learning about which plants encourage and support wildlife. We can put this learning into action with our new gardening kits from CALA Homes by planting to encourage biodiversity at school. The children will also love learning new skills and are guaranteed to have fun outside planting and growing. We would like to say a big thank you to CALA Homes and we look forward to getting the new gardening kit muddy!”

Nicki Dennis, Sales and Marketing Director for CALA Homes (South Home Counties) said: “Creating beautiful places to live is at the heart of what we do and gardens can play an important role in our sense of wellbeing.  We hope this gardening kit donation will help encourage younger generations to get involved and develop a passion for gardening.

“We are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build and are delighted to partner with Westbourne House School again. We hope the children enjoy using the new equipment and make the most of the sunshine this summer.”

The latest phase of the development, The Lakeside, has now launched. With a range of properties priced from £525,000, CALA is urging interested purchasers to visit the development’s brand new four-bedroom ‘Chichester Oatfield’ showhome to view the idyllic lifestyle on offer.
