What is the closing date for applications?

All applications should be submitted by 7th January 2018.

Who do I contact if I have a query?

What if I graduated last year?

You are still eligible to apply to join the programme and we would welcome your application. We will accept applications from anyone who has graduated within the last three years i.e. 2015, 2016, 2017 or due to graduate in 2018.

What if I want to go travelling?

You need to be able to start with us in September. If you are unable to start with us in September 2018, we suggest you look out for the launch of our 2019 intake.

What if I can’t make the Assessment Centre Date?

If you know you are unable to make the assessment centre date, please email us at graduate.recruitment@cala.co.uk at the earliest opportunity.

Do I need to have a particular level of degree?

No, any level of degree will be considered.

Do I need to have a specific degree?

For certain functions within the business, yes, you do. Please have a look at our “roles” page for more information.  If you want to have an informal chat with one of our HR team then contact graduate.recruitment@cala.co.uk to arrange this in the first instance. 

How do I apply?

All applications must be made online using the application form. If for any reason you are unable to use the form, please contact us at graduate.recruitment@cala.co.uk.

How quickly will I hear about my application?

We will get in touch with you within two weeks of the application closing date.

I’m a mature student – can I still apply?

Yes, though you must have graduated within the last 3 years.

I am an International Student who doesn’t have a Visa to work. Can I still apply?

You must have the permanent right to work in the UK to apply for the Graduate Programme. Unfortunately we are unable to provide sponsorship.

Does CALA cover travel costs for the Assessment Centres?

CALA will pay for your travel to and from the assessment centre although prior approval is required.  We will discuss this further with you if you are successful in reaching Assessment Centre stage. 

2. CALA Graduate Programme

When does the job start?

The job will start in September 2018.

What if I can’t start on that date?

If you are unable to start with us in September 2018, we suggest you look out for the launch of our 2019 intake.

Will I need to relocate?

You could be placed in any one of our eight regions therefore must have the flexibility to relocate accordingly.  

Will CALA support me financially if I have to relocate?

Any support available would be discussed with you at offer stage.

What if I don’t have a driving licence or a car?

We will not reject you if you do not currently hold a valid driving licence although a condition of your offer will be that you obtain this and have access to a car by your start date.

I don’t know much about house building – how do I know it is for me?

You can find out more what it’s like by looking at our ‘day in the life’ section, by speaking with a member of the HR team or by visiting the House Building Federation’s own website.

How long is the programme?

The development programme lasts for two years, but you will be employed on a permanent contract.

What training and development opportunities are available to me during the programme?

You will have extensive training and development opportunities to develop on and off the job. For more information please visit the Opportunities and Development Page

Will I need to travel as part of the programme?

You will be based within one of the CALA regions, so the majority of your time will be spent in this region although you may be required to travel to any of our other regions for training. Advance notice will be given and any travel and accommodation costs will be met by CALA.
