I started working for CALA Homes (East) as a trainee assistant site manager in 2007. At the time I was also attending Edinburgh Napier University part-time, studying for my BSc Honours degree in Construction & Project Management. I attended university 2 days a week while gaining the valuable experiences of working on site the other 3 days. In 2011 I graduated and commenced working full time on site. I was promoted to Site Manager in 2016 and now manage my own site.
Since starting with CALA I have worked on a number of exciting and differing developments from my first at East Fettes, Edinburgh with its timber-kit townhouses, traditional build apartments and underground car park through to my current development at Fairmilehead, Edinburgh which is a mix 4 & 5 bedroom detached homes, 3 bedroom terraced homes and apartments all of timber-kit construction. Although each development may differ, the level of training, support and assistance from my peers and colleagues has been of the utmost at all times. CALA invested in my education while I was at Edinburgh Napier University and continue to do so in my working career.
I enjoy working for CALA; in my role of site manager I am involved in the technical aspects of building a house from groundworks right through to completion, as well as interacting with our customers. It is always a great pleasure to hear how delighted our customers are with their new CALA home.
