CALA HAS DEVELOPED ITS COMMITMENT TO APPRENTICES IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, WITH A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PRINCE’S TRUST AND SUPPORTING BOTH THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING BOARD (CITB) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME AND MORE LOCAL INITIATIVES.
We work with local Colleges, the CITB and Notting Hill Trust to ensure meaningful workplace development on a construction site is provided. We have participated in the Prince’s Trust “Get Into Housebuilding” programme, offering potential apprentices a work placement in the industry with a view to securing longer term employment. 2017 sees our second year supporting young people through our corporate partnership with the Prince’s Trust. We have delivered “Get Into Construction” programmes for groups of young people across the UK, partnering with local colleges and the Prince’s Trust to provide short term work placements for those with an interest in Construction. A large proportion of these young people have also gone on to secure longer term employment opportunities and Apprenticeships, supported by CALA.
Since 2015 we have been working with our sub-contractors to sponsor apprentices in key trade areas such as bricklaying, plastering, painting & decorating and plumbing to address the continued skills shortages the industry faces.
