The WhatHouse? Awards, generally considered the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, presented CALA with Silver in the Best Large Housebuilder category at a ceremony in London, attended by over 1,600 people.
The judges commented that “What strikes you about a company that brands itself ‘The UK’s most upmarket major homebuilder’ is the culture that permeates the business... Culture cannot be created and sustained without engagement, with employees not just sharing in overall company strategy, but being part of it, whatever your job title.” They continued, “Community engagement and customer service go hand in hand with its new developments, with enduring and innovative design excellence throughout the product mix, always true to local context and buyer need.” They summarised, “CALA doesn’t just build houses, it builds people, while its wider responsibility to promote the industry is an example to its peers.”
Having won this award for the second year running, it rounds off an excellent year of awards for CALA with the business having been successful at the Scottish Home Awards, Homes for Scotland Awards and the UK Property Awards.
CALA's Chief Executive, Alan Brown, said, "This win is testimony to the importance we place on people and all the hard work that goes on across the business to deliver our stated commitments to customers, communities and to help those less fortunate. It also highlights our strong focus on engaging with and developing our own valuable team, and retaining and further building our strong culture.”
