At CALA, we adopt a collaborative approach to planning, taking into consideration the needs of local communities, local planning authorities and future generations to create the right solution for the local area.
We engage early and give local communities the chance to provide feedback. In 2016/17, CALA carried out community consultation on 90% of the sites that received planning permission and on all developments of 40 homes or more.
All feedback is captured in a statement of community involvement, which is submitted with our planning application and we look to address any areas of concern wherever we can.
Giving back to local communities is extremely important to CALA and we work closely with local authorities to identify areas for investment. This often includes education provision, transport and infrastructure improvements, local sports provision and community facilities. In our 2016/17 financial year we provided £25.5m through section agreements.
As well as our national Community Bursary scheme, CALA supports local communities through sponsorship, donations, fundraising and local schools projects.
