Our Environmental Management System provides a group-wide framework to ensure we comply with legislation and minimise the environmental impact of our development activities on site and through our supply chain.
Before we undertake any work on site, we carry out a full environmental assessment, taking into account the possible impact of our development proposals on the local environment and ensuring appropriate mitigating action is taken.
Our homes are created with sustainable living in mind, with a ‘fabric first’ approach to energy efficiency.
Our group approach to procurement helps us ensure chain of custody and in 2016/17, 97% of the timber we used came from sustainably managed forests with FSC certification.
We have waste reduction plans in place across the business and aim to recycle and reuse as much as possible. In 2016/17 98% of waste from our sites was recycled.
The construction of new homes can sometimes affect those living and working in the immediate area and we aim to keep noise and disruption during the construction phase to a minimum. We communicate with local residents on a regular basis and give advance notice of any work that may cause temporary disruption. CALA is part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and abides by their code of conduct on registered sites.
Each CALA development aims to make a positive contribution to the local built environment through attractive landscaping and the creation of new green spaces that bring communities together.
