The Prince's Trust
CALA’s partnership with the Prince’s Trust began in 2015. Our mission; to deliver opportunities that give disadvantaged, unemployed young people the chance to develop new skills and get hands-on experience.
Established in 1976, The Prince’s Trust is a charity that helps young people gain the skills and confidence to move into employment, education or training. This is the second year of CALA’s relationship with the Prince’s Trust and we have continued to expand our Get Into Construction programme, as well as provide support to young people through workshops and mentoring.
During the Get Into Construction programme, young people from the Prince’s Trust undertake a two week work placement on a CALA site, alongside a two week college placement. Those participating have the opportunity to secure a trade apprenticeship on completion of the programme. The initiative enables CALA to simultaneously support disadvantaged young people who are in need of a positive opportunity, while addressing the on-going skill shortage faced by the construction industry.
This year, we have expanded activity with the Prince’s Trust by offering professional skills workshops such as CV writing and presentation skills. Young people have also been invited to come to CALA’s offices or sites for a World of Work Tour, to fully experience our business culture.
CALA employees have embraced fundraising for the charity, completing challenges including the Palace to Palace cycle challenge, the Three Peaks Challenge, and the Centurion Challenge.
