Jackton, East Kilbride
West of Scotland
Outline planning permission was approved on 3rd October 2019 for circa 1950 no. private residential dwellings and circa 250 no. affordable homes on site. The site is located to the South East of Eaglesham Road, Jackton and forms part of The East Kilbride Community Growth Area (CGA).
The CGA represents an exciting chapter for South Lanarkshire and will enable the creation of much needed new homes, new retail facilities, new play parks, a new Primary School and a new major road linking Jackton and Lindsayfield. The project will deliver well designed green space and signposted cycle paths which will champion healthy living and create a true sense of community.
The proposal by CALA within the CGA will see 195 units being delivered in Phase 1 ranging from 1 & 2 bedroom apartments to 3, 4 & 5 bedroom homes.
What to expect?
To help prepare for wider construction, we will commence preparatory works in the first instance. This includes construction of the first phase of a new spine road which will eventually connect Jackton and Lindsayfield. This road will allow us to install essential services, enable the development of a new primary school and is crucial to wider construction phasing.
To enable the construction the of the Spine Road we will be forming a temporary construction access off of Jackton Road, close to the Junction with Eaglesham Road. This access will be in operation for approximately 6 months until the first phase of the Spine Road has been constructed.
In addition to forming a new site entrance these works will include the temporary widening of Jackton Road from Kavanagh Crescent to Eaglesham Road.
We expect the access and road widening works to be completed over a two week period during November 19.

How will this impact you?
Over the coming weeks, there will be increased construction traffic and if local, you will see various machinery arrive on-site. To help us manage this and mitigate disruption as much as possible, we plan to install temporary traffic lights at the junction of Eaglesham Road and Jackton Road.
The nature of the works will result in some noise; however, this will be limited to the hours of 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 1pm on a Saturday. Any work out with these times would need to be approved in advance by South Lanarkshire Council. We have committed not to arrange deliveries to the site between 8am – 9am and 3pm – 4pm during week days.
It is important to note that once these works are complete, the new spine road will allow us to divert construction traffic away from Jackton and create direct access into the construction site which will help minimise any future disruption to our neighbours.
How do I get in touch?
Chris Rae of Luddon Construction will be the main contact on site during these initial phase of works. He will be the Site Manager in charge of the groundworks contractor.
