Headley Fields is a prime example of sustainable development achieved on a greenfield site and led by local stakeholder engagement.
The site was originally identified in the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) as appropriate for 31 homes, however this was met by significant local objection with the major concerns centring around overdevelopment and damage to the local character.
CALA engaged in discussions with the local planning authority, the parish council and local residents and through careful management of expectations and pragmatic solutions, a successful outline planning permission and subsequent detailed reserved matters approval were achieved.
Our development gave rise to seven prestigious new homes, all set within generous plots and befitting the local character and the negotiated S106 contributions included off-site affordable housing and the provision of a nature reserve using land that would otherwise have been constrained by ecological matters.
This development resulted in significant financial, environmental and ecological investment into the local community.
