Haddenham Airfield, Buckinghamshire
The site, which is to be named Aspen Park, is located in the north west of Haddenham and, in September 2015, outline approval was granted to bring a mixed-use scheme to the wider development. This included, amongst other things, a new care home, an extension to existing playing fields and a new sports pavilion, retail and employment units, and the provision of open space.
As part of CALA’s reserved matters application, it is proposing to build an impressive range of high quality homes, from 1 to 5 bedroom properties, to suit a variety of house buyers. These will be sensitively designed to complement the characteristics of the wider village. 70 of the 233 homes will be allocated as affordable housing, to enable a genuine opportunity to access the housing ladder. These properties will be split between Affordable Rented and Shared Ownership dwellings.
CALA’s proposal will not only deliver the total allocation of homes, but will also provide open space for families to enjoy along with an equipped play area, sports fields, as well as a financial contribution to the Parish Council to deliver a new sports pavilion.
The new community that is formed at Aspen Park will benefit from living in an attractive semi-rural location, which offers plenty of amenities, including a variety of local shops, plus early years and primary education facilities. Haddenham and Thame Parkway railways station provides regular services to Birmingham and London, whilst bus routes also provide access to the closer towns of Oxford, Thame and Aylesbury.
