In February 2014 CALA Homes prepared a detailed vision document for our proposed development on brownfield land at Long Marston Airfield.

CALA’s vision was put to Stratford-on-Avon District Council and considered alongside three other sites as the preferred strategic development site within the Council’s Core Strategy. Gaydon Lighthorne Heath was initially named as the Council’s preferred site and was included in the Council’s Proposed Submission Core Strategy, published in June 2014.

In March 2015, following an Examination in Public of that Core Strategy, the Planning Inspector published an Interim Report which made it clear that additional housing is needed in the district. 

Stratford needs a ‘Plan B’ and we strongly believe that the best option would be a brownfield site that can deliver significant infrastructure improvements alongside new housing, community facilities and employment opportunities.

Our current application 

In November 2014, CALA Homes submitted a planning application to Stratford-on-Avon District Council for 400 homes at Long Marston Airfield, together with 4,000 sq m of high-tech office space, a GP surgery, dentist surgery and a village hall.

This separate application in the south-east corner of the brownfield site would deliver a viable mixed use development of its own right and provide much needed housing and community facilities for local people.
