The submission signals the start of a 12 week long consultation period, during which CALA will carefully craft a masterplan followed by a planning application for the site, in collaboration with the local community.
The plans for the suggested development, situated at the Glebe to the west of Urquhart Road in the town, will consist of residential properties, including affordable homes and thereafter church and community facilities. The site forms part of the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan as the Oldmeldrum allocation M1.
Mike Naysmith, Managing Director at CALA Homes (North), said: “We are very much looking forward to working with the local community in Oldmeldrum to shape our proposal.
We plan to host two community consultation events in the coming months, at which we will present information on our initial plans and considerations, and take time to answer questions and listen to feedback from attendees.
We would welcome anyone wishing to hear more about, and help form, our proposals for the area to come along and meet our team.
Details of the community events – set to take place in May and June – will be released shortly and publicised around the local area.
CALA Homes (North)’s current developments include Rosefield Gardens in Cults and The Links at Dubford and Balgownie Gate, both in Bridge of Don. The home builder has recently gained planning approval for a further development in Cults at Friarsfield Road and homes at May Baird Avenue in Aberdeen city centre.
