The event was held in our Cottesmore showhome and was hosted by popular radio presenter Kev Lawrence and broadcast on his breakfast show.
Expert panel members included Glenn Copper, sales and marketing director at CALA Homes North Home Counties, sales director Lisa Burns-Kent from Meridian Mortgages, Jon Pilling, founder of Abode Interiors, and CALA’s regional marketing manager Leah de Lisle-Barrow.
Glenn Copper introduced listeners to Hampton Lakes, part of the brand new community of Hampton Vale on the edge of Peterborough. CALA is creating a superb collection of 350 two bedroom apartments and two to five bedroom homes, set amongst areas of public open space, cycle paths and children’s play areas.
Glenn also talked about the range of schemes being offered to help purchasers make the move into their dream home. These included CALA’s Part Exchange service, which removes the need to sell an existing property on the open market. CALA effectively acts as a cash buyer, saving on estate agents fees and providing peace of mind that a purchaser’s sale will complete ready for them to move into their new home.
Sales director, Lisa Burns-Kent, reflected on the mortgage market and urged buyers to move quickly to take advantage of the current stamp duty holiday and the existing Government-backed Help to Buy initiative. She advised that reservations had to be made by 15 December 2020 in order for buyers to take advantage of the equity loan scheme in its current format. The scheme is set to change on 16 December 2020 when it will only be available to first-time buyers and the maximum price for eligible homes will be reduced.
Next up was interior designer Jon Pilling who discussed how the COVID pandemic has changed the way we live in our homes, with the increase in home working and the need to have a safe and secure sanctuary. He said that interior trends were staying calm, neutral and comfortable and that he believed that Christmas decorations this year would be traditional and understated.
To finish the programme, Kev Lawrence was given a guided tour of the four bedroom three-storey Cottesmore showhome by CALA’s Leah de Lisle-Barrow, taking in Kev’s firm favourite, the cinema room, as well as the open plan kitchen/dining room and the more formal first floor sitting room (see pictured).
Situated five miles from Peterborough city centre, CALA at Hampton Lakes offers the best of both worlds with good local amenities and countryside nearby. The development is situated in the catchment area of well-regarded primary and secondary schools and is ideal for commuters, with Peterborough train station offering direct routes to London King’s Cross and Cambridge with a journey time of just 50 minutes.
