The site has been allocated for 66 new homes in the emerging Central Bedfordshire Local Plan under reference HAS08. CALA is preparing a planning application which will include details on the access, design, landscaping, layout and scale of the development.
CALA’s proposed development will deliver an attractive scheme of two to five-bedroom properties to meet local housing need and will include detached, semi-detached and terraced properties, along with some maisonettes. The homes will be designed to be in keeping with the existing architecture in the village, with character properties in a mix of brick and render incorporating traditional finishes and materials. The development will also feature 23 affordable homes.
In addition to new homes, the proposed site will feature an area of public open space and wildlife provisions including:
- A new wooded area to the north east, which will provide 1.15 hectares of open space and woodland trails. This will include extensive new tree planting
- A children’s Local Equipped Area for Play (LEAP)
- Extensive landscaping and planting, both within the site and around the periphery
- The inclusion of bird and bat boxes, along with flower and nectar-rich wildlife areas
Vehicle access to the site will be via the construction of a new access leading from Greenway. There will also be the provision of a three metre wide footway/cycleway north and south of the new access to provide a connection with the underpass already in place.
We are now consulting with local residents on our proposed scheme, with a view of submitting a planning application later in 2020.
