Two young Farnham families have part exchanged their former properties to upgrade to a more spacious home at our Folly Heights development, a popular, leafy haven situated just over a mile from the town centre.

Whilst each family had different requirements, both were inspired by friends and colleagues who had very comfortably settled into their Cala homes within our previous Farnham development, Atherton Hill.

Jo Whitehead, a full-time mum, explains: “We previously lived in Badshot Lee and loved the area but had got just about everything we could from our former property. We added a loft extension when our daughter was born which gave us a five bedroom home – but the layout became too top-heavy for our needs. We needed more space downstairs, a dedicated area for home working and a bigger garden.”

Having decided to make a move, Jo’s partner Ian, an IT director, initially had a renovation project in mind. However, upon visiting a friend’s new-build home at Atherton Hill, they became swayed by the quality and finish of their friend’s Cala home. Once the launch of Folly Heights was announced, they knew there would be no better place for them.

Jo continues: “Having seen the homes at Atherton Hill, we were convinced Folly Heights was the place for us and Ian has never looked back. In hindsight, now we’ve moved in, a renovation project would have been so difficult with a toddler. Everything is clean, fresh and new. There’s no mess or jobs that need doing. We now have everything we wanted: a large kitchen/diner; a spacious lounge and downstairs toilet (which we never had before); and a designated study downstairs – which we use as a playroom for our daughter. We then use one of the double bedrooms as a home office.”

Jo and Ian purchased the Stovold, an exceptional four bedroom detached home with a standalone sitting room, study and open plan kitchen/dining room downstairs, four double bedrooms on the upper level and generous storage space throughout.

A swift and easy move was facilitated by using our Part Exchange service*. Almost a third of Cala customers make use of this service as it gives homebuyers the certainty of a chain-free solution. It can also save thousands of pounds thanks to there being no need for estate agents’ fees and marketing costs associated with the sale of the purchaser’s former property.

Jo says: “The process was new to us but my friend at Atherton Hill had part exchanged and had a good experience with it. We weren’t sure if we’d get offered a silly price but we were happy with the offer, especially with all the uncertainly due to COVID-19. It offered a comfort blanket so we reserved in October last year and had moved in by the end of March with no delays as agreed.”

Andrew Johnson, a director of a marketing company, also used Part Exchange, having been impressed with a business associate’s home also at Atherton Hill.

Andrew says: “We fell in love with the style of the home at Atherton Hill and knew then we had to move to a Cala home. As soon as Folly Heights launched and without even having floor plans to view, we registered our interest. We were the very first to reserve and the first to move in.”

Andrew and his wife Lauren, a full-time mum, loved their three bedroom semi-detached home in Upper Hale but soon outgrew it when they had twin girls. They wanted to move to a new home which would offer a larger and brighter space, a fourth bedroom and a well-proportioned garden. Buying new would mean that everything would be done for this busy family and there would be no big home improvement projects taking up precious, much needed time. They also opted for the Stovold house type.

“Using Part Exchange was really easy. We agreed the offer, reserved in November last year and moved in towards the end of March. We absolutely love our new home as the space works really well for us. Having a separate study downstairs is perfect for home working and we’re using one of the bedrooms as an upstairs playroom for our six year old twins.

“Buying off-plan enabled us to pick exactly the home we wanted. Our previous property was on a main road and we now enjoy being set back from the road, with green space close by. Our new home faced the way we wanted so we get sunshine in the right place at the right time of day.”
