Which Help to Buy scheme is right for you?

There are several government schemes in the UK that help people get into a new home. These differ depending on the location of the home you are buying. Here at CALA, we are able to provide assistance if you’re looking to use the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme in England or London.

The last date homebuyers can reserve homes and apply for the Help to Buy: Equity Loan is 31 October 2022. This should allow enough time for homebuyers to legally buy their homes before the scheme ends on 31 March 2023. Please visit the Government’s Own Your Own Home website for more information.

Unfortunately, Help to Buy (Scotland) has now come to an end and we are no longer able to offer it.

Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme criteria list

As of April 2021, Help to Buy is only available on new-build homes in England. In order to qualify for the Help to Buy scheme in England, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Plan on buying a new build
  • Not own or ever have owned a home or residential land in the UK or abroad
  • Have at least a 5% deposit
  • Intend on living in the property
  • Pass affordability and eligibility checks by a registered Help to Buy agent

This list is not exhaustive and it is important that you work through a Help to Buy agent to confirm whether you are eligible.
