24% of homes delivered in 2025 were zero-carbon ready. Cala’s target is that all new homes will be zero-carbon ready before 2030.
Since launching our original Sustainability Strategy in 2020, we've made some great progress in our sustainability journey. Our achievements so far are only the beginning, and we will continue to develop our approach to support our long-term future and commitment to communities and the environment.
Cala has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2045. Full details of our Science Based Targets can be found here.

Zero Carbon Ready Developments
24% of homes delivered in 2025 were zero-carbon ready. Cala’s target is that all new homes will be zero-carbon ready before 2030.
Whole-Life Carbon
The upfront embodied carbon emissions (RICS Categories A1 – A5) of our homes in 2025 was 335.6kgCO2e/m2 – below the 2025 target for the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard. The whole-life embodied carbon emissions (RICS Categories A1 – C4, excluding B6 and B7) of our homes in 2025 was 628.85kgCO2e/m2 – below the 2025 target for the RIBA Climate Challenge.
Construction Waste
We divert 99.9% of our construction waste from landfill. Since 2023, we have reduced our construction waste intensity (tonnes waste/100m2 developed floor area) by 12%.
EPC and SAP Ratings
In 2025, 98% of our completed homes achieved an EPC rating of A or B. The average SAP rating of our completed homes was 86.7.
Nature and Biodiversity
In 2025, Cala developments achieved an average Biodiversity Net Gain of 13%. We installed over 2,000 wildlife features in our developments, including integrated bird boxes, hedgehog friendly fencing, invertebrate bricks, and bat roosts.
Supporting Communities
Since launching in 2023, we have supported over 350 local businesses and over 100 good causes through our Community Pledge. 2025 saw an additional 21 Community Pledges established at new Cala sites.
Electricity
100% of Cala’s purchased electricity is renewable certified through REGO certification.
