More information will be available on this planning application soon

Cala Homes has - this April - purchased the land for our next development in Portlethen, and has submitted a Planning Application to Aberdeen City Council for a proposal to provide 175 new homes with associated works and supporting infrastructure on land.

A sophisticated and energy-efficient collection of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes have been proposed, with first completions anticipated for spring 2027.

Cala Homes has recently acquired the land for our next development in Portlethen. The development, based between Newlands Drive and Schoolhill Drive – and to the east of Hillside School -, will see 175 new homes to the area, across approximately 20 acres of land.

3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes are anticipated to feature on site, attracting a range of buyers. From first time buyers, sideway steppers, downsizers, families, retirees and those looking for their forever home.

The Planning Application has been formally lodged for the first phase of the development, and represents and exciting step as we continue to expand into new areas,

As part of the initial phase, our proposal brings forward 43 high-quality private homes, with further phases to follow. Several parcels within the previously consented residential allocation have remained undeveloped, and this submission marks the start of unlocking that potential.

This development benefits from a number of handy amenities within easy reach, including supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, all whilst being close to the Portlethen Golf Course and schooling on your doorstep.

Once a small fishing village, Portlethen has grown into one of Aberdeenshire’s largest coastal towns while retaining glimpses of its maritime past. The old harbour in Old Portlethen offers a charming reminder of its seafaring heritage, with nearby villages like Findon and Downies adding to the area’s coastal character.

Portlethen lies east of the ancient Causey Mounth Road, once the only route from the south to Aberdeen. This historic path played a key role in Scotland’s Civil War, when Covenanter forces marched north in 1639. Today, Portlethen offers a mix of historic intrigue and modern living. Explore rugged cliffs, hidden coves and sweeping views across the North Sea — a reminder of the area’s enduring connection to land, sea and story.

We're excited to share more as the application progresses and as we work closely with the community to bring another distinctive Cala neighbourhood to life.
