If you like the finer things in life, then you’ll love Tring.

Nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with ancient trees and waterways and close to museums, spas and countryside pubs, we think it’s easy to imagine a perfect life in this town.

Here’s why:

The great outdoors

Tring lies beneath the Chiltern Hills, which means access to rolling hills, inspiring views, chalk grassland and acres of woodland to explore, right on your doorstep. It’s also close to The Grand Union Canal where strollers can take in the countryside along a historic waterway connecting London to Birmingham, as well as Tring Reservoir, where walkers can amble by the serene water and soak in the quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Or, up your steps on a walk-through Tring’s picture-perfect town centre.

Historical hotpot

Tring is steeped in rich history, so it’s only right the town offers you a chance to learn about it. Visit Tring Local History Museum and discover how the first President of the United States, George Washington's great-grandfather, John Washington, was born and raised in Tring, or step into the Natural History Museum to get a closer look at Walter Rothschild’s private collections of specimens that now number nearly 5,000.

Home brew

All walked out and fancy a drink? Tring is brimming with pubs and even has its own locally produced alcohol. Beer and ale drinkers can discover their new favourite pint at Tring Brewery, or gin-thusiasts can stumble upon award winning gin at Puddingstone Distillery.

Work out…and relax

For those who want a bit of exercise, head to Tring sports centre and when in need of some rest and relaxation, Champneys Health Spa Resort is also located nearby. From massages to fitness classes, and afternoon teas to healthy and nutritious dinners, there’s something for everyone in this beautifully manicured setting.

Eat (or take) out

From top-class dining to a night out in town or a cheap bite to eat on a rainy day, Tring is home to plenty of places to whet the appetite. Whether you’re hungry for gastropub food at The Akeman or interested in more of a culinary experience at Storia, you’ll have plenty to excite your tastebuds. Or perhaps take some food to go from a fine selection of good old-fashioned fish and chip shops.

Perfect location

Tring is a small, quaint town set amongst preserved areas of nature, so you might not think it’s close to London. But it is. Whether for business or pleasure, Tring is only 30 miles from Central London where trains will take you directly in just under 40 minutes from the local station. Aylesbury, Watford and Oxford are also similarly convenient by train or car on the A41, M25 and M40.

Super schools

Parents can be confident of their children’s education at a number of nearby schools, including Grove Road, Dundale Primary School, Bishops Wood Church of England School and Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.
