The new Waterbeach offers a range of reliable travel options, so it’s easy to get around sustainably - from the amenities and green spaces just a short walk from your doorstep to the low carbon options to get you further afield, this place has been designed to be both cycle and walk friendly.
With purpose-built cycle routes into central Cambridge and the Science Park; regular shuttle buses to Waterbeach rail station, Milton Park&Ride and Cambridge Research Park; and London just over an hour away by train, Waterbeach is one of the best-connected places in the county.
Waterbeach is a place that promotes health and wellbeing, with green spaces and sustainable facilities at its core. A range of play areas are just a short walk away, while running and walking loops enable you to explore at your own pace. With a lively café culture hosted around the 23-acre lake, and the civic square which will host a range of shops, galleries and event spaces, residents will be able socialise and take part in the diverse cultural calendars on offer.
Supported by a team of travel experts who will be on hand to help residents find out about all their options and initiatives to travel actively and decrease their carbon footprint. As well as 40km of new and improved cycle connections - a sustainable travel hub which offers support, advice and options for people to leave their cars at home - or at the Hub - and make use of the range of service options available to them including; a shuttle bus service to Waterbeach rail station, bike hire, ebikes and scooters, electric car charging points and carpool options. All these services are provided by the onsite Active Travel Team.
5 new schools, including three primary schools, a secondary school and a special needs school are planned. But in the meantime, there’s great provision locally for your children’s education. Little Stars Day Nursery, Herons’ Preschool and Waterbeach Community Primary School are all rated Good by Ofsted, as are Impington Village College, North Cambridge Academy and Castle School at secondary level.
